Meatloaf Freaks Out on Celebrity Apprentice

Okay, I admit that I have fallen prey to the Donald. I have been watching Celebrity Apprentice this season, for no other reason than to see how Nene Leakes handles the competition. The celebrity "Housewife" is known for her blatant attacks on others who disagree with her. Her non-stop yelling bouts are what drives the drama on her show and makes her stand out in the cast. But last night, it was Meatloaf, the famous rock star and real celebrity who stole the show.

Meatloaf, thinking that Gary Busey had taken his art supplies, launched himself into attack mode, (like a bat out of hell) ranting and screaming at the supposed culprit. It went on for at least a minute of camera time. To his credit, Gray Busey did not attack back. In fact he was strangely calm and collected. All the other contestants avoided Meatloaf as Mark McGrath stood in front of him in case he tried to get physical with Gary. My kudos to Mark and the team leader, John Rich, who reminded Meatloaf about their goals and how this outburst was getting in the way. John Rich, you can come to work for me as a mediator anytime.

The true effect of Rich's intervention came later in the show when Meatloaf gave a heartfelt apology to Gary who kindly accepted. This is the best outcome of mediation which doesn't necessarily need to take hours to accomplish, but can happen quickly and effectively with just a few well chosen words.

  2. Thanks Steve, I'd like to think that the message is that an apology can restore a relationship, but who knows, maybe it was scripted.

  3. You are right. An apology where appropriate is the right thing to do. On more than one occassion, I have seen it neccesary to apologize with the desired results. I just have a hard time with ALL the "reality " shows. Perhaps scrpited is not the proper word. "Guided " might be the more correct term. One thing they all have in common is human conflict. I think there is enough conflict in real life. therefore I never see the need to watch more of it on tv.
